With the Forest Service continuing the implementation of the Travel Management Rule and with many forests working hard to complete the process by the end of FY2010, ARRA continues to work closely with the agency in terms of resolving issues such as adequate signage, better maps and outreach to the OHV enthusiast community. Whenever there is a change at the top, we have to remain vigilant to ensure that priorities do not change, especially as it relates to OHV recreation. In other words, we are going to keep a watchful eye on the agency as it undergoes this leadership change.

ATV Safety Institute Launches Interactive e-Learning Courses for Adults, Teens and Youth

IRVINE, Calif., June 22, 2009 -- The ATV Safety Institute has unveiled a suite of free interactive online safety courses on its website (www.atvsafety.org) to enhance the total learning experience for all-terrain vehicle enthusiasts so that they can enjoy safe, fun-filled riding experiences.

New tips for UTV riding, shooting sports, and trail sharing have been created, and the classics have been updated and redesigned—such as ATV riding, camping, boating, geocaching and others.

MVUMs – Coming Soon to a Forest Near You!

If you drive on forest roads and you don’t yet know about Motor Vehicle Use Maps, here’s some very helpful information.

Motor Vehicle Use Maps (MVUMs) are in the process of being developed by the U.S. Forest Service as part of their nationwide travel management plan. When all MVUMs are finally issued, they will definitively identify every legal OHV route on U.S. Forest land. Although the program has taken longer than planned, maps are now starting to be issued, and many more are on the way.
