MN Nonresidents must have ATV trail passes starting Jan. 1

(Released December 28, 2009)

All-terrain vehicle (ATV) operators who are not Minnesota residents must possess a trail pass when driving on state or grant-in-aid trails beginning Jan. 1, when a new state law takes effect. The trail pass does not need to be displayed on the machine, but must be available for inspection when requested by an officer. The pass is required whether the machine is registered in Minnesota or another state.

Man's Best Friend Makes A Great Off-Road Companion

 

Having a dog entails a certain amount of responsibility, of course. They require regular feeding and exercise, and therefore are an obligation. Because of this commitment, owners tend to leave their pets at home when they head out for a drive. Sadly, some people forgo the off-road experience because they are unable to find anyone to dog sit. That’s too bad.

Practice Safe Winching

I topped the rise and saw a vehicle laying on its side in the wash below. A crowd began gathering to help.  Finding no injuries, attention turned to getting the vehicle upright on all four tires.  Muscle power along would not accomplish that task. Time for my winch to prove its value....

ANSI Approves First Standard for Recreational Off-Highway Vehicles

Over a period of 26 months, the ROHVA Technical Advisory Panel worked expeditiously to develop the ANSI standard, analyzing and debating the complex issues and competing objectives associated with this unique class of vehicles. At the same time, ROHVA was concerned that operator and passenger behavior - largely in violation of existing warnings - contributed to crashes resulting in avoidable injuries and fatalities.
